How
to Apply
 | The
purpose of The Reedham Trust is to help support children in the
United Kingdom
at boarding schools where their home circumstances are so difficult or
dysfunctional that they need to be away from home for the majority of the
time. The whole emphasis of this
Trust is on boarding need and not
educational need. Please click
the “Criteria” button for full details of the circumstances where we
would give consideration to a grant.
|
 | As
the Trust tries to help as many children as possible we are unable to make a
grant that is sufficient to cover the total fees required for a child to
attend a boarding school. Applicants
are expected to approach the school at which their child has been offered a
place to ascertain whether the school will award a bursary or scholarship
towards the fees.
|
 | Despite
any award made by the school or school foundation, it is usually necessary
to apply for grants from more than one charitable trust in order to cover
the balance of fees.
|
 | Many
other Trusts do give grants towards school fees in certain circumstances but
this will depend on the criteria of the individual trust.
Below are some of the Trusts that we work most closely with.
The Educational Grants Advisor at ISC (details below) is a good
source of information about other Trusts which might be able to assist you.
|
 | If
you meet our criteria then we will ask you to fill in an application form.
The form is in two parts and the second part is common to a number of
charitable trusts that assist with school fees.
It is therefore a good idea to keep a photocopy of Part 2 if
possible, to save you having to complete it again.
|
 | After
the form is received it will be acknowledged and receive preliminary
consideration by the Trustees. If
it is approved thus far the next stage will usually be for a visit to take
place at your home, by our Caseworker or other representative, to discuss
the child’s situation further. Following
this the application will then be presented to the Trust’s Selection Panel
at their next scheduled meeting and a decision will be taken at that time as
to whether or not The Reedham Trust will be able to award a grant.
|
 | The
Reedham Trust is a small charitable Trust with limited resources and we
receive many applications from needy families.
Unfortunately we are not able to help them all.
